The 2nd Annual "This Run's For Jack" A Success

The second annual "This Run's For Jack" 5k run/walk took place on Marathon Sunday, October 9th at Ackerman Park in Glen Ellyn. The race was a resounding and inspiring success, registering over 1,200 participants and raising over $56,000 toward improved detection and treatment of melanoma.

While the majority of participants were from the Glen Ellyn community, this year a number of individuals whose lives have been touched by melanoma, traveled from other states to participate in this special event and to join in the fight against melanoma. A large "Shoe Angel" board was created by The Jack H. Marston II Melanoma Research Fund for signatures, names and inspirational messages to honor these individuals. This beautiful "Shoe Angel" board will be on display at different facilities in Glen Ellyn throughout the year.

With each participant of "This Run's For Jack", we are a step closer to finding a cure for melanoma and make greater strides toward the prevention of the disease. "This Run's For Jack" is fighting melanoma every step of the way.

To our community, to our sponsors and donors, and to the more than 1,200 registered participants at the Second Annual "This Run's For Jack" run/walk held Sunday, October 9th, 2005 at Ackerman Park in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

In addition to raising nearly $56,000, it is equally important to note that through our efforts we have continued to help raise awareness of the need for melanoma research and the importance of early detection and prevention.

We may have even saved a few lives along the way.

Congratulations to our Winners!
